Chiangrai OCIP 2006
As some of you may already know, I will be going for a CIP trip this December, from the 10th-16th, to a mission home in Chiangrai, Thailand. It is a CIP trip organised by students from AJ, RJ and SNGS. As part of our fund raising efforts, we will be selling cards, bookmarks, shirts, pouches and bags made by the children from the home.
The Catholic Mission Center of Wiang Kaen is run by a Thai Missionary – Reverend Father Paul Anurak Prachongkit and a Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus nun – Sister Bernard Pranee Trithara. The center was set up 12 years ago to specifically reach out to the Hmong hill tribes living in Northern Thailand, Chiang Rai. Aside from evangelization, its main objective is to provide education, food and lodging for the poorest children from
the surrounding 30 villages. To date, there are about 60 children and funding is a constant source of concern as they are not a publicly funded charitable organization. At the home, we will be conducting English, handicraft and guitar lessons, helping out in the farms, fields and fruit orchards, preparing desserts for the children and conducting games sessions for them. As Christmas is just around the corner, we also hope to buy each child a christmas present. In addition we will be bringing over donations such as, old clothes, bags, shoes, blankets and umbrellas.
As mentioned earlier, as part of our unwavering efforts to help these underprivileged hill tribe children, we are planning to raise funds through the sale of bookmarks, greeting cards, T-shirts and bags – all of which are handmade by the children and our volunteers. Please note that we would also be accepting pledges and donations(old clothes, bags, shoes, blankets and umbrellas). All funds raised will be channeled directly and entirely to the center.
Feel free to contact me, Reimin, at pearrr @ aim.com or my mobile or just leave a comment with your contact details, if you wish to purchase any of these items or make any pledges/donations. Thank you!
