there's a useful skill you should learn: shut up

I swear some people talk too much for their own good. I happen to know a few, and they really REALLY irritate the hell out of me. Purposely or accidentally, please do not be around when I pass my limit of tolerance. I won't be the docile and quiet-suffering guy I usually am anymore.

Anyways, I see this strange trend in my blog posting regularity. I seem to have blogged more during the 'A's than actually blogging after the thing itself, after which I should be having more free time, supposedly. And blogs have become a pretty quiet place, which leads me to the conclusion that blogging ranks far behind in the hierarchy of time priorities. So here is a rare update.

First day of freedom (Monday 20th): History paper wasn't as tough as the International Paper, but I forgot already. Should be ok. Got my hands on an electric guitar and a $199 Marshall Amp (thanks for lending your guit, again =D) and got my ears blasted off later on. Night crapping session with a few senseless guys.

Second Day: I don't really remember. Think it was to the tune of stay at home, play guitar, sleep.

Third Day: Spent my day watching movies in my collection, playing LAN and same as second day.

Fourth Day: I don't really remember....

Fifth Day: Accompanied some people who were job-seeking. I swear they look for the weirdest jobs around. Like who else goes to Orchard Towers for a decent job? Anyway put our names down for an "event promoter" slot, and we had to come down for interview the next Monday. After which we were off to Kallang for some indoor soccer, after which was LAN session again and the stupidest adventure of my life. Like playing LAN until some people forgot that they live in the North and there WAS actually a last bus and last train. So they bunked over at my place and I swear they ransacked my comp. And found nothing, of course. I'm too good for THAT. =P

Sixth Day: What a downer. Stayed up to watch Arsenal lose to Bolton. I swear that was a lop-sided match. Like all of Bolton's goals were against the run of play. Anelka's first was unexpected and unstoppable, and the third goal should have been offside. Well, I knew we wouldn't be challenging this season, but to lose to Bolton AGAIN? If SAM-A and his team were that good they would have won the league already. But they just happen to like beating Arsenal cause they are the most flyweight team in the league. Once Lehmann goes we'll start conceding a lot of goals cause Toure, Gallas, Eboue and Clichy just aren't that tall and don't jump that high. And Almunia just can't cut it. So I hope that old fart stays, although his complaining when he gets challenged can be irritating.

Seventh Day: Went for the Manu-Chelski match at a friend's place. Played Winning Eleven. Not too bad, but I guess Arsenal fans all have the same philosophy about football. Sorry I didn't score. But hey, I won the tournament against you people without scoring remember? On the same note it's not like you guys scored that many goals. At least I kept clean sheets all the way through. A bit of sour taste after that stupid talk.

Eighth Day: Went for the "event promoter" thingy. Turns out to be one big scam. As in, the money's good, yeah. But it's like those people who approach you with a license and a brochure about some poor and unfortunate people and ask you to donate. Which is okay with me, I mean it's a pretty noble thing. Except when the organizers are 100% bengs and the license is really a form from the company itself and they're going around without a REAL police license. And that charity I've never heard of before plus the primary motivation was personal profit, which was really too much to take. So I politely said I'd come back but in the end I didn't. Again we went LAN and then back home.

Ninth Day: SC BBQ @ East Coast. Some joker said Pit 50 and alight at MacDonalds. But public transport drops you off at Marine Parade, so from there you had to walk to the place. At first I thought my ears got problem and they really meant pit FIFTEEN rather than FIFTY. Cause the biggest number you see when you cross from Marine Parade is 17. So I walked for about 40 minutes down the jogger's path, and from pit 32-40 or so the distance was super long. So was 48-50. Wasn't too bad, at least I learnt how to cycle in about 30 minutes. Still can't turn on the bike, so guess I'd need some more work. There's no need to talk about the BBQ cause all BBQs are really the same, so after that went over to another friend's house for a movie marathon, which we kind of flunked through some pretty boring horror flicks. Some were pretty interesting, like Dorm and Mortuary but I fell asleep cause I couldn't stand the dull sequences of the rest.

I think that's all, pretty much. Yeap. Would probably update in a bit.

study fatigue

It took me a whole shitloadoftime to figure this out, I'm experiencing what is called study fatigue aka burnout.

Just a grand total of TWO days left until I can go on a real break.

I mean, distance myself from studying.

I wanna clear my room, make it my own, give it my own touch. And my mum opposes cause I don't want the bed frame and the desk around. I also don't want my obsolete PIII comp around anymore, so I'll toss it somewhere. I dunno why she opposes, I never even ask her for cash.

I need a short term holiday job. Any offers, anyone? I mean, any openings? Haha....

Thanks for lending ur guit! =D

I officially screwed up my first paper on Thursday. Like real screw up. I mean, which other year did those stooges at Cambridge combine TWO LARGE TOPICS of Start of Cold War and End of Cold War INTO ONE FRIGGIN QUESTION? Particularly of consequence since I studied both topics in depth and passed over the others. And I spent like 1 hour 15 minutes on that question, screwing up my balance for the other questions. Source based was on Palestinian hostage crisis. Background knowledge? Israel has been illegally occupying the Gaza strip so the Arabs understandably do not want to recognise their presence.

Like wow. As a consequence of that stupid question I think I sorta wasted my other two questions. I hope the bell curve shifts super big time. My frens in other JC tell me they screwed up too, but it's such a 50-50 subject, my essays can make a lot of sense to one marker and be complete bull to another. Damn, my chances look GOOD.

Thanks to that experience, I'm not that keen on mugging for Monday's history. Anyway I still did and found THAT paper more friendly, as in content-wise I'm perfectly up to date on most of the topics. Let's JUST hope they don't spring another spoiler.

And so I'm tired of studying. When the whole friggin Singapore is celebrating the end of term and exams. Sucks worse when you live in town, when you go to the train station you see friends who finished their papers and go out to PLAY while you go to study. SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT.

Just two more days. Two more. 48 hours to be exact. Or less? After that I'm gonna toss my notes somewhere where I won't ever see them again.

Yes. Life. Come.

Chiangrai OCIP 2006

As some of you may already know, I will be going for a CIP trip this December, from the 10th-16th, to a mission home in Chiangrai, Thailand. It is a CIP trip organised by students from AJ, RJ and SNGS. As part of our fund raising efforts, we will be selling cards, bookmarks, shirts, pouches and bags made by the children from the home.

The Catholic Mission Center of Wiang Kaen is run by a Thai Missionary – Reverend Father Paul Anurak Prachongkit and a Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus nun – Sister Bernard Pranee Trithara. The center was set up 12 years ago to specifically reach out to the Hmong hill tribes living in Northern Thailand, Chiang Rai. Aside from evangelization, its main objective is to provide education, food and lodging for the poorest children from
the surrounding 30 villages. To date, there are about 60 children and funding is a constant source of concern as they are not a publicly funded charitable organization.

At the home, we will be conducting English, handicraft and guitar lessons, helping out in the farms, fields and fruit orchards, preparing desserts for the children and conducting games sessions for them. As Christmas is just around the corner, we also hope to buy each child a christmas present. In addition we will be bringing over donations such as, old clothes, bags, shoes, blankets and umbrellas.

As mentioned earlier, as part of our unwavering efforts to help these underprivileged hill tribe children, we are planning to raise funds through the sale of bookmarks, greeting cards, T-shirts and bags – all of which are handmade by the children and our volunteers. Please note that we would also be accepting pledges and donations(old clothes, bags, shoes, blankets and umbrellas). All funds raised will be channeled directly and entirely to the center.

Feel free to contact me, Reimin, at pearrr @ aim.com or my mobile or just leave a comment with your contact details, if you wish to purchase any of these items or make any pledges/donations. Thank you! :D

when someone stuffs cotton in the barrel

Hmm, so fast, it's halfway through already!

Yes, the dumb thing that we have suffered for about 6 bloody years for. (4 in Sec. sch to get into JC, and another 2 all-action mugging years to finally get to it). And I'm not even excited.

Okay, I concede the papers were at least two notches harder than 2004, 2003 or even a few years before. But what'd you expect from a couple of old fogeys giving their last hurrah for the most obsolete and out-dated (or so the changes seem to prove) education system in Singapore? I thought I handled all my papers so far well enough, but due to certain sensitivities of others and my innate superstition about discussing grades, that would be all about the chase of paper qualifications.

I had this friend (note the past tense) who was a ManYoo fan, and I had always found him to be mildly distasteful, to say the least. Is it so much of a trend to lambast Arsenal for stupid reasons such as fielding a UN-team that plays like football should be? I know Arsenal fans are rare over here so that makes me feel proud to be one, and a long-serving one who wondered, back in 1997, what the hell this weird looking Frenchie was doing to my beloved team. Of course, who cares if they were French or not. Nobody complained that Eric Cantona wasn't British. Ian Rush wasn't born in England either. So what right do people have against Arsenal who fields so few English players cause i) those in Arsenal are not good enough and ii) those young'uns, because of anti-poaching regulations, are just too expensive for a poor club like Arsenal to buy. You see, last time we had an experiment called Jeffers. I remember, somewhat above 7 million pounds for the next Michael Owen, or something along those lines. Next I heard he went to Charlton, didn't playeven 5 games and was shipped off on a FREE transfer. Right. Remember Jermaine Pennant? Most expensive British teenager once. Now at Liverpool doing god-knows what. And Theo Walcott cost upwards of 12 million pounds.

The exhorbitant price of young English talent is just out of Arsenal's reach. The real English talent that counted - Wayne Rooney, for one - please remember Arsenal got the first taste of his prowess and Wenger could have tried to buy him - cost ManYoo 28 million pounds. Yes. Apart from the fact that Wenger declined Paul Robinson (the England Number One, not Almunia, who claims he should be) - something that still hurts, and Matthew Upson as well, ah, well, Arsenal are just not suited for most Englishmen.

As you can compare, people like Eboue, Toure, Fabregas, Clichy, Senderos, Hoyte, Gallas, Gilberto, van Persie, Rosicky and Lehmann were brought to the club at the combined total of less that what ManYoo paid for Juan Sebastian Veron. And as far as I am concerned, that's mostly the first team which achieved the oh-so-simple task of reaching the Champions League Final and take the lead with ten men.

And most of that team were the same ones who went 49 games unbeaten in the toughest league in the world. So that fact is also conveniently forgotten. Who really gives a shit whether the team is English or not? If you are unhappy, they could very well (the uncapped few, that is) apply for an English passport and take the place of, say, Ashley Cole, or Ledley King... ya'dig?
And 49 games is one statistic that only Arsenal possess. So if all those pissers want to diss my team, please try to hit 40 first before even talking to me. Thanks lots.

Hah.

Anyways, part of me wants to get a job for December at least, cause I need some cash for my life next year (I don't have to go NS) and I might probably go gallivanting overseas or something... ah.

Where's my Burny...?
